Styling

I am always searching for beautiful pieces for mamas and babies. When these items came in, I couldn't wait to put them on a beautiful family! This dress is light, dreamy, and so flattering for mamas after having a baby. I paired it with beige and cream tones for the little one to help achieve that warm and dreamy look for this indoor newborn session. I typically recommend neutral palettes to parents to allow your newborn to be the star of the show, but using all neutrals also proved to be a winner.

Details

In every session, it is my goal to capture those tiny baby details. I can't get over the tiny toes, the head of hair, those little fingers that link onto mommy and daddy's finger. Babies grow so fast, so I find it vital to capture just how little they are in those early weeks. It helps parents look back and remember their little one and all their little details more vividly!

Best Time for Newborn Photos

I always recommend newborn sessions within the first 2 weeks of birth. I know that time can go by so quickly and parents can often feel overwhelmed as they try to settle in to being new parents, or all the changes that go along with bringing home a new sibling. But I promise they are only that tiny for so long! In those first two weeks, babies are still acclimating to life outside of the womb and will sleep for longer stretches for a session. I always bring my bag of tricks to keep babies warm and sleepy so that they will be content during the session. While I give parents the two week timeframe, it is always completely up to the family. I have photographed babies anywhere from 1 day old to 8 weeks old. It is always possible to create beautiful images that capture that special time in your life, even if we surpass that recommendation.

I hope you enjoyed some of this sweet Charlottesville in home newborn session gallery! It is always a true treat when I get to spend a few hours getting to know your family and documenting such an amazing time in your family's life.
